Traditional (also known as Bikram) Yoga Teacher Training is a program that is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a certified Traditional yoga instructor. The program is an intensive, immersive experience that includes daily yoga practice, lectures, and workshops.
During the training, students will learn the principles and techniques of Traditional yoga, which is a type of hot yoga that consists of a series of 26 postures and two breathing exercises. They will also learn about anatomy, physiology, and the philosophy of yoga, as well as how to sequence and teach a Traditional yoga class.
The program is led by Liana Ledgerwood, who is certified by the Bikram Yoga College of India, and who has completed the rigorous teacher training program herself, with hundreds of hours teaching this style of yoga to local students.
The training is designed to teach proper alignment of each pose, the sequence, and how to properly teach a 60, 75, and 90-minute class. In addition to the in-class hours, students will be required to complete out-of-weekend hours by taking a minimum of four 60-minute classes between the weekends of the teacher training. As this is a condensed course, all hours will be used for learning alignment and dialogue so the practice component will be independent for each student.
Being a yoga teacher today means being able to teach multiple styles, and studios find value in teachers who can substitute for any class. Having the Traditional training as a part of your continuing education will help you stand out and differentiate yourself from other teachers applying for the same positions.
The Traditional Yoga Teacher Training is a 50-hour continuing education program and will be held at McKenzie Towne:

Saturdays 8:00am-5:00pm
