I was hungry for change and growth, and so I decided to complete my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training. A few weeks after my training ended, I quit my job, left university, moved out of my apartment, packed a suitcase and went to live in Costa Rica. I spent almost two years there learning more about yoga and cultivating my own style. I have now been teaching for 8 years and run a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training program. My teaching style is rooted in self discovery and curiosity - and my intention is to help students get out of their own way through creative and fluid movement that works for their bodies.
My yogic journey began over 12 years ago and has been the impetus for incredible growth, expansion and deep learning ever since. I have experimented with practicing a wide variety of styles and found the most beautiful and inspiring elements of each that have brought me to the place I am today.

My yogic journey began over 12 years ago and has been the impetus for incredible growth, expansion and deep learning ever since. I have experimented with practicing a wide variety of styles and found the most beautiful and inspiring elements of each that have brought me to the place I am today.
Through yoga I have discovered a sense of peace, calm and serenity; every breath, every posture, every class takes me deeper into this place of moving meditation. Yoga has truly brought me to a place of balance; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, and I renew this each and every time I step on my mat. I feel incredibly blessed and honoured to be able to share this journey that is yoga with all of you like-minded souls.

I graduated with both trainings from Rishikesh, India. Beginning my teaching in October 2009, I fearlessly opened up a mobile business, bringing health and wellness to individuals in Calgary and local areas. Completing numerous trainings in yoga, I grew interested in the healing arts. Early in the year of 2015 I became a certified CranioSacral Therapist.
I am drawn to yoga because of its unlimited benefits - from rehabilitating the physical body, healing the emotional self, to finding peace of mind - practicing this art form will change your life, and I will guide you through that transformation. I teach with enthusiasm, heart and soul. Having been told that my classes are engaging, energetic and fun - I am sure to help you reach your potential in the amount of time presented. Come join me on the mat, and say hi!

Angie has been dancing through life since the age of five—drawn to movement, rhythm, and the quiet magic of how the body speaks. Her early years were steeped in ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap and musical theatre, with formal training at Canada’s National Ballet School and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. She later studied kinesiology and dance at the University of Calgary, weaving together science, movement, and an ever-growing curiosity about the human experience.
Her professional dance career became a passport to the world—performing on stages across North and South America, Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Wherever she landed—Calgary, Las Vegas, Denver, Baltimore, or Los Angeles—Angie remained deeply connected to the arts as both a performer and choreographer.
Her yoga journey began during her travels, sparked by a home practice guided by the voice of Bryan Kest. What started as a way to slow down became a profound journey inward. Yoga offered her presence, breath, and a tender kind of strength—cultivating self-awareness and a renewed sense of connection. In 2004, Angie completed her first yoga teacher training in Ashtanga yoga, later expanding into prenatal, mom & baby, yin, restorative, and hot yoga, as well as Reiki Levels I & II. She’s been fortunate to learn from renowned teachers including Pattabhi Jois, Seane Corn, David Swenson, and Ana Forrest.
Based in Calgary, Angie teaches full time throughout the city—offering group public classes, private sessions, workshops and multiple teacher trainings. Her classes weave together alignment, intuitive movement, and mindful breath—offering a blend of structure and flow, effort and ease. With a warm and grounded presence, she creates space for students to move, breathe, feel, and simply be—while feeling seen, supported, and invited to explore with curiosity and compassion, on and off the mat.
Love and light,
Angie

I came across yoga late in life at the age of 42, but at a moment that I truly needed to find it. My message is that it is never too late to start and you do not need to show up with a “yoga body” or “yoga flexibility” in fact the opposite is true. My daily yoga practice began about 3 months after taking my first class, I have been evolving in practice since then. In the beginning my personal practice was about healing and recovery from injuries collected over the years of extreme sports and has recently shifted to a practice to build strength to maintain a full range of motion into my golden years. The self study of my practice has me practicing challenging flow and traditional hot as well as yin and restorative every week shifting to favor strength/mobility or recovery/deep rest depending on what I need to achieve balance. I teach how I appreciate being guided through a practice building strength and challenging the practice outside the asanas. I look forward to moving with you.

In her class you can expect to explore fluid movements that take you out of your head and connect to your body, usually accompanied by some Taylor Swift in the background (sorry, not sorry). Everytime she steps on her mat, wether teaching a class or moving as a student, Ali is always captivated by the power of practising in community. Her mission is to spread light in whatever she does and is always eager to visit before and after class. Yoga found her in a period of transition when she was completing her undergrad in business and didn’t feel inspired about working in a corporate environment. Her mat became a safe space to reignite her drive and desire to learn. Ever since taking her 200 hour teacher training in 2019, she has continued her education with additional teacher trainings and returned to school to become an acupuncturist. She loves to combine her two passions in Yin & acupuncture workshops that you can take right here at Breathe Hot Yoga!

Brenda has also practiced and certified herself in an array of other healing modalities such as reflexology, reiki master, personal trainer, nutrition and more. Her past also included founding international yoga retreats to inspire transformation.
Brenda strives to create an environment where like minded people gather as a community to move and challenge their body and mind to the fullest. She believes yoga allows the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding and relationship with self. The most important of all.
Yoga is an intentional mindset, an attitude, a way of being, woven into all aspects of life on and off the mat, field, and ice, whether a professional athlete or otherwise. The power of knowing thyself and having the ability to regulate one’s own emotions, as well as to understand the emotions of people around you, is an incredible gift to self and the world as a whole. It allows one to tap into the phenomenal power within, in & amongst any circumstance; of what allows one to act from a state & place of self confidence, calm, compassion, inspiration, empathy for self and of others, whilst holding boundaries.
For myself, the ability to live and move from a place of strength, love, wisdom & grace, along with the ability & honor to inspire & unveil those qualities within others is the one of the greatest gifts in itself. See you on your mat!

Deeply inspired by the rhythms of the seasons and the interconnectedness of life, her classes create space for practitioners to attune to their inner intelligence and express it with greater freedom on and off the mat.
Breanna’s offerings honor the whole of the yoga practice, weaving together asana, breathwork, meditation, and philosophy to reflect the cyclical nature of life and the power of heart-led living. Dasha began her yoga journey in 2016 after being laid off from her administrative job—an unexpected twist that led her to a 200-hour YTT at Calgary Sunshine Yoga Academy. Even before graduating, she was teaching weekly classes in her basement and quickly realized she had found her passion.
Over the years, Dasha has led classes in studios, gyms, corporate offices, and private sessions. Her offerings have ranged from kids’ and seniors’ yoga to partner workshops, chair yoga, and more. She continued expanding her knowledge with certifications in fitness instruction, Buti Yoga, Barre, and eventually a 500-hour YTT with a focus on therapeutic practices, Ayurveda, and anatomy.
In 2021, she began a new journey—returning to school to study Chinese Medicine. In 2024, she earned her title as a Doctor of Acupuncture. Now, Dasha integrates her deep knowledge of yoga, holistic health, and energy work to guide students toward greater self-awareness and healing.
She believes each yoga class should flow like a story—with intention, presence, and heart. Join her on the mat to move, breathe, explore, and reconnect—with balance, joy, and curiosity.

I never thought I was “zen” enough for yoga and that it wasn’t for me, but after the third class, I was hooked on the feeling that yoga gave me. In February 2020 I moved back to Calgary from university and joined the Breathe community as a student. 3 years after my yoga journey began, I embarked on my 200 hour teacher training at Breathe. My intention throughout my classes is to get students out of their heads and into their bodies. Moving mindfully in a way that allows them to practice as their authentic self while having some fun along the way (and maybe also listening to Taylor Swift).

'Be where your feet are' - Yoga gives us the ability to arrive, to land in our bodies and attune to the present moment. Over many years as both a facilitator and student of yoga, I have witnessed the unfolding of profound transformation that comes when individuals surrender into the practice. Moving through the many layers of being, starting from the physical, working into the mental, and energetic layers, and towards a heightened state of consciousness.
Yoga is an embodied experience. In my teachings I invite students to show up as they are, to release what keeps them tethered. I know that yoga is not just a source of health, balance, and serenity, but of freedom. Freedom to breathe. Freedom to be in the moment, to live the life you dream of.
I have travelled all over the world and had the opportunity to absorb the teachings of many senior yogis, studying at the Sivanada Ashram in India, and the Bridge Program for Ishta Yoga. As well as many other amazing people from around the world in other modalities. Their incredible wisdom has greatly influenced my life and how I help guide others on their path to wellness.

In the summer of 2011, I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease, severe osteoarthritis in my lower lumbar, and a bulging disc. I was no longer able to have a desk job. Doctors prescribed me with narcotic pain killers that made me ill. I tried various therapies such as massage, chiropractic, physiotherapy, prolotherapy, acupuncture, and others. My pain persisted after these treatments and I decided to try Yoga as a supplemental therapy. After 9 months of practice, Yoga is my only therapy and my pain is gone. My whole body felt stronger and more flexible. I then realized that I was interested in pursing Yoga as a career. I am a believer in the body and mind therapeutic value that Yoga provides. Yoga is my medication. I am looking forward to spending time with you in the yoga room.

At the time I quit my full time job and started working front desk at a yoga studio, I completed my 250 hour teacher training in 2014 at Yoga Passage. Since then I have branched off and have been teaching at numerous studios in and around the city and have kept up my own personal practice through experience and lifestyle.
I enjoy teaching students to experience a deeper connection to themselves, creating a stronger bond mentally and emotionally with their bodies and mind through movement and breath work. I feel I'm constantly learning and growing my own personal practice deeper and deeper, for me, its a never ending journey!
Aside from the physical practice, Meditation has been a huge part of my life and has definitely got me through the tough times. Having that self love relationship with yourself and knowing how beneficial yoga is for the mind and body, the self practice you put in, will always come back to benefit you no matter what. I would love students to experience what yoga has to offer, anyone can start at any level, any age or anytime in their life! :)

After retiring from my sports career I traded in football helmets and goalie pads for tool belts and carharts and settled into the “blue-collar life”. As I got into my 40’s I felt disconnected from my inner athlete then yoga came into my life.
Like sports, this practice fuels my desire to do the hard things, to challenge myself, test my limits and learn from my mistakes.
It has supported me through some of life’s most difficult moments, giving me the fortitude to push through.
I teach from the mentality that anything is possible if you put your mind to it, whether you’re working toward handstand or simply finding peace of mind.
I believe the mat gives us the opportunity to show up as our most authentic selves, which is how I like to show up for my students—present and genuine.

Little did she know, her yoga journey took her to far greater depths beyond the physical benefits of Yoga. She soon discovered yoga was a way for her to truly become the best version of herself mentally, and spiritually.
After graduating from university with a degree in Health and Physical education, Kirsten's journey took her to Nexus Yoga Institute in Nosara Costa Rica where she completed her 200hr YTT. She later gained another 30 teaching hours in the Adjuster's Method at Breathe, led by Angelique Panther, and continues to have a keen desire to keep learning. With her athletic and educational background,
Kirsten has a passion for bridging the gap between yoga and sport, and furthermore intends to share her love of movement and mindfulness for optimal wellbeing and performance with all walks of Yogi's.

My mat has [almost] always felt like home. Although I was initially drawn to yoga solely for the physical benefits of the practice, over time, it has evolved into an invitation for humility, surrender, self-inquiry, and self-love. It has become a space to explore, play, create, and uncover and a practice of returning to what truly matters.
I love to teach from that which is found within my personal practice: creative and fluid movement with permission for freedom of expression, patience and intention while building strength through mindful transition, and a request for awareness of the Self, the body, the breath.
Every practice offers us the opportunity to pay attention to the thoughts, feelings, and beliefs we carry with us—the ones that determine the way we see the world around us and within us. And within this awareness, we are gifted the circumstance to choose our way forward.
Trust where you are, be patient for what follows.

I have been an active member in the fitness industry for a number of years, after losing forty five pounds I discovered that if you do not work on the mind you will never be satisfied with the results. It took many years to realize that being skinny is not the end game, and it wasn't until I became a mother that this truly came into fruition - we need to be conscious of who is watching us and the example we are demonstrating.
I started this journey with a divine pull towards bettering my mental health, going after what fueled my soul in order to make me a better wife, friend and mother. Becoming a yoga and fitness instructor has been an emotionally charged journey. Slowly transforming into a new person, learning to trust yourself and believing in yourself which can be tough, but having met so many amazing people on the way it has been an unforgettable experience, one I hope many people get to have. I adore my teachers Lacey Smith and Chris Rurka and have discovered that I have much to learn as a life long student. Coming out of my training I see the world with different colours, it is my hope to help others fall in love with life, experience a deeper practice and connect the body with the mind.

I started practicing yoga about 15 years ago when I was doing a lot of running and triathlon training. I loved the flexibility I gained through my yoga practice. When a new, hot yoga studio opened, I couldn’t wait to try it out! I was hooked from my very first class!
It was hard. It was hot. But the way I felt after just a few classes was amazing! I practiced as often as possible.
Before long, I was working at the front desk of the studio. After every class students would come out and tell me the benefits they felt from class. They’d share how they were getting stronger, more flexible and how their quality of life improved through their yoga practice. When an opportunity to take a teacher training came up, I had to take it!
I’ve been teaching since 2016, and have taken 2 more teaching trainings since my original 200 hour training.
It really is an honour to guide students through their practice and I’m so inspired by my students in every class I teach.

My journey to my mat definitely wasn’t typical and took some time. I have always been passionate about fitness; I had attended a few registered yoga programs over the years but never fell in love with it. As a fitness coach I was always on the go, I felt yoga was too slow and I always felt the constant need to do more. One day, however the universe decided I needed to slow down. After two car accidents within a year of each other left me unable to continue with my normal fitness routine I decided to try yoga one more time.
I can still remember my first hot yoga class at Breathe; it was almost as though I had been carried away to another place for an hour. For the first time ever I completely let go of my guard, my normal internal chatter quieted and I finally was able to slow down for those 60 min. It was surreal to feel so completely ok with not being able to do anything or be anywhere else. I truly allowed myself to be fully present without distraction and it was amazing. I left feeling a deeper connection with my inner self and could not wait to explore more into yoga asana and philosophy.
From that day forward I started a regular daily practice and reading anything I could find about the yogic philosophy. Knowing how amazing I felt when I was on my mat, I wanted to incorporate these practices into my life off my mat. After a few years of my daily practice and a suggestion from a friend I started looking into becoming certified and completed my 200 HR teacher training in 2015 in Calgary with the Amazing Danielle Pechie.
Yoga has forever transformed my life. Not only has it allowed me to heal my physical body, I have become more mindful in my everyday life and much more connected to true self. Finding the balance of effort and ease is what I love about yoga. Every day we arrive on our mat is different, and if we allow it we can grow and change from every practice. It is such an honour to now guide others through their practices; I truly hope that it will positively impact your life the way it has for me.

I first stepped onto a yoga mat at 16, guided by a Rodney Yee DVD in a chilly basement. At first, it was all about the physical practice—but quickly, yoga began to mirror my life. The way I pushed, resisted, and wobbled on the mat reflected how I moved through the world. That awareness sparked a shift: if how I do one thing is how I do everything, I choose to move through life playfully.
Since then, my journey has taken me from Central America, where I earned my 200-hour yoga teacher training and Reiki certifications, to immersive trainings, silent meditation retreats, and the facilitation of transformational yoga experiences. With a Master’s in Counseling Psychology on the horizon, I now blend yogic wisdom with psychological insight to guide others toward self-regulation, healing, and deeper self-awareness.
My classes are an intuitive mix of movement, breath, and music—a holistic, heartfelt dance designed to reconnect you to your body and inner world. You’ll find space to meet yourself exactly as you are.
Let’s move, breathe, and come home—to ourselves, together.

My journey with yoga began when I was 20 years old, during a time that was filled with uncertainty and disconnect. In a way it was my awakening to self and quickly grew into a lifelong practice that continues to ground, challenge and inspire me. What started as a physical outlet evolved into a powerful tool for self-discovery, connection

In a way it was my awakening to self and quickly grew into a lifelong practice that continues to ground, challenge and inspire me. What started as a physical outlet evolved into a powerful tool for self-discovery, connection and growth.
My teaching style is influenced by Vinyasa, Baptiste, Awakening Yoga and Katonah Yoga. You can expect intentional, dynamic movement, pockets of creativity and moments of stillness that invite both curiosity and clarity. I’m passionate about creating a space where students can move mindfully, explore their edges and feel empowered in their own mind and body.
In addition to teaching, I find a deep purpose in mentoring and supporting other yoga teachers as they uncover their voice, build confidence, and step fully into their own unique expression as leaders.
I look forward to sharing space and the practice with you soon!
After attending my first yoga class 11 years ago, I knew I was in love. I began passionately practicing with a full intention of teaching, but with 2 young boys at home it never seemed like the right time. I continued to develop my personal practice, and my love only grew. I was finally able to complete my 200hr YTT in 2020, as well as 20

Yoga changed my life. It made me see things in a completely different way and taught me so much about myself and my body. I am happiest when I’m teaching, and I love learning new ways to challenge my students. You can always expect to push yourself and accept yourself in my classes. I will be forever grateful to yoga, and I hope I can inspire someone else to feel the light of yoga as so many teachers did for me.

Like many yoga journeys, mine began with a desire for meaningful change. Growing up I devoted myself to physical disciplines. I initially turned to yoga for it's physical and healing benefits - something to support old injuries while continuing to challenge my body in new ways. But overtime, yoga became a space for deeper self-awareness, reflection and growth.
During my yoga teacher training, I was asked a question that stopped me in my tracks: "Who am I?". What seemed simple at first became a moment of reckoning. I realized I had spent much of my life trying to be who I thought others needed me to be. That moment helped me recognize the importance of living more fully and honestly, without the filters of fear & judgement. Yoga has supported me in that process ever since.
Somewhere along the journey I cam across a phrase that resonated deeply with me: F.L.Y: First. Love. Yourself. It captures the intersection of yoga and aviation beautifully - reminding us that the most important journeys begin within.
In my classes, I aim to create a space that is supportive, challenging, and intentional. You'll find thoughtful sequences that encourage you to explore your edges, build awareness, and return to yourself. I bring my full self into the room, and I invite my students to do the same.

“I love yoga…I love what it does for my body, what it does for mind. I find balance and peace there.”
I stumbled out of my first hot yoga class in 2009 and was hooked. Five years later, I flew to Thailand for Bikram Teacher Training in 2014 and have never looked back. Since then, I have become a Registered Massage Therapist (2016), a Vinyasa (2015) and Yin Yoga (2016) teacher, and during the pandemic continued my training into yoga-based

I love to apply my knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the practice and in doing so, have seen my students progress farther than they have in years. My aim is to age gracefully and live a pain-free life, and to help you do the same!

Shelley is an adventurous mother of two who keeps herself and her girls busy with hiking, snowboarding, camping, surfing, and of course yoga. Her journey to becoming a yoga teacher began when she was a busy corporate account manager in telecom many moons ago. Yoga became her outlet. A place to reconnect to herself, and find balance amidst the many demands her lifestyle held on her time. With many hours spent on the mat weekly, her love of yoga grew and Shelley became quite curious about what the teachers were talking about beyond the simple shapes of postures and breathwork. It was that curiosity that inspired her to take her first teacher training here in Calgary. With zero aspirations of becoming a yoga teacher, the intention behind this step was simply to deepen her own understanding of yoga and how this ancient practice created such profound benefits in her own life. Armed with a deeper understanding how yoga applies to modern day life, Shelley developed a passion for sharing yoga and started teaching weekly classes. Since her initial vinyasa training, Shelley has studied Critical Alignment Therapy, Nidra (yogic sleep), Pre/postnatal, meditation and Pranayama (breathwork) along with enjoying multiple workshops and retreats to elevate her understanding of this beautiful practice and it’s endless benefits for herself and her other yogis.
My practice started 15 years ago and was much needed therapy both physically and mentally. Yoga enriched my life and I fell in love. Cliché as it may be, my desire to instruct began as a means to escape and mend a very broken heart. In 2013, I travelled to Hawaii to embark on the greatest experience of my life, my yoga teacher training.
It is truly a privilege to be able to hold space for people to experience, and to share my knowledge and passion for the practice. Teaching is an ongoing learning process and has been quite an adventure. Watching students blossom and express their beauty is extraordinarily inspiring.
I invite you to join me as we grow together through our journey of the mind, body and soul.

My journey to yoga stared as a dare. My wife dared me to take on a 30 day hot yoga practice. After completing the challenge I felt better than I had ever felt before in my life and I needed more. Unfortunately schooling and sport got in the way and yoga began to take a back seat to everything else. After I received a double degree in Kinesiology and Education from the University of Calgary I was presented with yet another challenge, “can you run a yoga program at our high school?” Needless to say I said yes and have not looked back since. After completing my 200hr teacher training with Breathe I instantly needed more, signing up for an additional 35 hour teaching course. I now currently teach for the Calgary Board of Education and love going to work every day.
My yoga journey has led me to meet some of the most amazing generous people ever as well as allowed me to work with some great students. I hope I get the privilege to meet and see you soon on your mat.
Namaste.
