All hot classes are heated to 38°C. All regular classes at Avenida, Britannia, and Mckenzie Towne are hot.
Our warm classes range in temperature from 28-37°C and may be used for some of our workshops.
Non-heated classes range in temperature from 20-28°C, McKenzie location only. These classes are held in the Metta room at McKenzie Towne.
This class is a SET SEQUENCE inspired by the Baptiste Vinyasa Flow style of yoga. It will be the same set of postures every time you attend, allowing you to learn the sequence so you can truly achieve a moving meditation. Baptiste is a combination of different traditions of yoga that come together to link breath with dynamic flowing movements. This Flow class will challenge your body and relax your mind. ALL LEVELS - SOME EXPERIENCE RECOMMENDED.
Core is a vinyasa flow class with a focus on strengthening all areas of the core (the abdomen, back, buttocks, upper hamstrings and hip flexors). It will build and develop your core strength, tone your abdominal and improve your posture. ALL LEVELS.
Fit Flow is segmented into three parts:
1. Vinyasa-style yoga
2. Yoga-inspired, high intensity interval training (LIIT) workout
3. Stretch
The class begins with a flow to warm up the body. It then leads into 20-25 minutes of hard work, with a mix of fast-paced yoga poses and HIIT movements on interval repetitions. Wind down with counter stretches for active recovery. Unlock your full potential and discover your true power! SOME EXPERIENCE RECOMMENDED.
*Fit Flow X - the use of weights and bands are incorporated for an additional challenge!
Flow is an invigorating class that integrates breath with movement and builds strength, flexibility and core stability. Sequences include sun salutations, standing, balancing, seated and twisting postures and may even include introductions to arm balances and inversions. Flow is not a set series, allowing instructors the freedom to play with alignment and movement. ALL LEVELS.
Foundations (Hatha) will bring strength and focus to the body from head to toe. By removing the flow and focusing on longer static holds, emphasis is placed on the pose itself rather than linking movements. Beginners can use this time to build up to our flow classes, while more advanced students can work on precision and alignment. The focus will be on foundational postures, however the instructor will provide modifications for every experience level, giving you the chance to expand your practice if you so choose. Because this class is not a set sequence, you can expect to learn something new and different every time. ALL LEVELS - GREAT FOR BEGINNERS.
HIIT is designed to sculpt every major muscle group, burn fat and blast calories by combining high intensity interval training, light weights, bands, pilates and yoga! If you want to lose weight, build strength, or simply need a little extra motivation to get you going in the right direction, this program is for you! Sweat out your stresses, boost your metabolism and cardiovascular endurance, align your mind, body and soul. Kick-start your fitness & fat loss journey today! ALL LEVELS. Please bring running shoes if you are attending a HIIT class.
This class will focus on opening and strengthening areas of the body that support healthy hips and hamstrings. Beginning with more movement and standing postures to warm and strengthen muscles, we’ll then settle to the floor getting deeper into the pelvic area with the use of props. This will encourage and develop stability, functionality, flexibility and relaxation of your hips and hamstrings (the most over-used and tightest areas of the body). Whether you spend a lot of time sitting or you're an extreme athlete, this class is for you! ALL LEVELS.
Traditional Hot is a SET SEQUENCE of twenty six postures performed in a precise order. This class systematically works the entire body, concentrating on the essence of every organ, bone, joint, muscle, ligament, tendon, blood vessel, nerve and gland. Incorporating strength, balance and flexibility, traditional hot teaches you to ground yourself into each pose, stimulating your mind and restoring and shaping your body. ALL LEVELS.
Yang Yin is designed to offer the balancing effects of yang (active) yoga and yin (passive) yoga. The first half is the yang, focusing on vinyasas and standing postures that will increase your strength, flexibility and balance. The second half is the yin, focusing on long, deep meditative stretches that allow your connective tissues and joints to open, increasing flexibility while creating a calm and centered mind. Because only half the class is flow (yang), it is a great class for Beginners. ALL LEVELS - GREAT FOR BEGINNERS.
Our non-heated Yogi's Explore class is for those who are ready to deepen their regular practice with more advanced postures that may include inversions, arm balances, backbends and wall work. SOME EXPERIENCE RECOMMENDED.
Restorative yoga is a passive practice in which poses are held for several minutes at a time utilizing blocks, straps and balls (our non-heated classes also use bolsters, blankets and the studio walls). These props are used to minimize the amount of work required by our muscles during poses. A restorative practice can rest your body, stretch your muscles, lower your heart rate and blood pressure, and calm your nervous system, moving you into a peaceful state of deep relaxation. ALL LEVELS, THERAPEUTIC. GREAT FOR BEGINNERS.
This class is a sweet blend of slow, deliberate and meditative postures that are held for extended periods of time to encourage deep tissue release and deep relaxation, helping to bring balance into your life and practice. ALL LEVELS. GREAT FOR BEGINNERS.
