Are you interested in learning about arm balances for the first time? Or building off of what you already know?
Come and challenge yourself as Angie Lo guides you through a 2-hour arm balance workshop. We will be focusing on the foundation of our hand balances and applying the strength we have acquired from our regular yoga practice into exploring these powerful postures.
Arm balancing requires mental, physical, and emotional strength, and the willingness to learn and have some fun. Come and enhance your practice by incorporating hand balances into your regular routine.
Some yoga experience is recommend but not required. The workshop is non-heated.
Kundalini yoga is a style of yoga that emphasizes physical and mental strength and spiritual awareness. The practice focuses on raising the energy that is believed to sit at the base of the spine, known as Kundalini, through specific breathing techniques, movements and postures.
Kundalini yoga has been said to help with stress reduction, self-realization, and personal growth. A typical Kundalini Yoga class consists of a Kriya (a combination of postures, breath work and chanting) followed by deep relaxation and meditation.
Join Janet McClelland for this 90-minute workshop and introduction to Kundalini Yoga. This session is for anyone interested in expanding their yoga knowledge and learning about this technique. No experience required.
Join Kirsten Dawson and Sara Gerow for this 2-hour workshop where you will enjoy long and juicy Yin postures, held for 3-5 minutes, combined with hands-on massage therapy techniques from a 2200hr Registered Massage Therapist. The unique combination of Yin and Massage fosters maximum relaxation and restorative stimulation of the muscular skeletal connective tissue.
The nature of this workshop where postures are held for a longer period of time in combination with massage techniques creates a mild stress response on connective tissues, which will improve circulation and turn on the autonomic nervous system, which is responsible for the rest and digestive functions of the body. Through the series of Yin postures, you will have the opportunity to soften, release and create space for deeper breath and a quieter mind.
Using the space of the warm studio Kirsten will begin with guided breath work and intention setting. Sara will use this time to familiarize their therapeutic touch with each student. This process creates a meditative atmosphere to foster relaxation, quiet self-reflection, self-compassion and prepares the body to open and release tension during Yin postures. While Kirsten leads the class mindfully in and out of poses, Sara will be applying massage techniques to each student individually. Supportive Yin props and therapeutic-grade essential oils will be incorporated to enhance your practice, allowing you to release layers of tension, heighten your experience and expand your state of relaxation and bliss.
*Space is very limited to allow Sara to provide one-on-one healing touch within the timeframe of the workshop.
*Sara's RMT number will be on the receipt. Workshop MAY be claimable through some benefits providers - please check with your benefits company to find out.
*Workshops are non-refundable and credits will not be issued for missed classes.
